Should get some people together and do like a battle royale sort of thing where everyone starts at the same time but there's permadeath

So whoever can get strong the fastest gets the W

Join the discord in the description, we plan do this :D

Ayo I didn't notice there is a discord, I gotta join that

Incredible! Really different from any other Jam games i've ever played.

Well done. At the beginning,  it's kind hard to get used to the controls. But after you understand it, it becomes really fun to play.

More like an IO game than an MMO.  Pretty fun, though.  Amazing how many different ways you added for player progression!

You could say that but the vision for the game is definitely an MMO :D we want to use the concept of IO games and scale it into an MMO

that is insane how did you guys make an mmo in that time and also made it look and feel so clean. im impressed. everything is nice. the UI, the mechanics, the animations.  just wow

insane. Better online than diablo 3 on release

Diablo 3 had online on release?

i don't think so, BUT it required you to be online (for DRM purposes) and the first few days the servers were down, so you could not play the game :)

the servers are still down

For unban requests you wanna open a support ticket, thanks for playing.

surreal

very nice! i didn't make it out of the first area to find the portal cuz tbh i got lost >< it took me a bit to figure out moving, and i didn't realize that i had to click on the orbs to sacrifice them that way (i thought it did it once it got to 50). good job to your team :)

Thats a MMO

impressive show of coding skill !

However the game is hard to control at first.

it reminded me of Sherwood Dungeon, Bashing monster until you're strong enough to bash the ones in the next zone

This game is amazing! I love the RTS style of combat and movement. The 8 way controls were a bit confusing at first, but I eventually got the hang of it and it's super fun! I'd love to see this updated and made into a full game! 10/10!

I genuinely really enjoyed this, I kinda hope yall continue work on this.

This is awesome! I don't normally like this kind of game but this is reminding me of the old Diablo grinding, I really like the sacrifice combos, and the game is gorgeous! The problem I had was I wandered off to kill things and couldn't find a portal :( Great work!

An Mmo for a game jam. You guys are insane.
Very pretty and fun game to play with friends.

A bit tricky to get used to the controls & real-time turn base movements.

I was struggling at first, but was able to get to the final portal!
Insane to make smth like that for such a short period of time!

cant believe you/team made an mmo for this jam :D

You're crazy. Fighting enemies is a lot of fun though, and I love the SACRIFICE aspect and unlocking new skills :D

Great game, the turn mechanic is really cool and rewarding if you got the APMs hehe

Getting 600 corruption on level 1 and killing noobs has been the greatest gaming experience ive had in 2024. 10/10 would reccomend

This what we love to see.

Really fun game! Im super impressed that you managed to do this in a jam

Neon Fantasy Chess, what a fun idea. Nicely done1

Great job! This looks like the start of a production level game!

I literally attained immortality, it was great

"Corruption: 482/50", Would play final boss of lvl 1 again! :P

Great job, really fun game. :D

Umbra Arise MMO Gameplay

10/10 gameplay experience :D
You wanna kill enemies, drop souls, then use "4" the ability to absorb the souls. This also allows you to sacrifice the souls and unlock skills (there are 35 between active+Passives)
Lot of players don't get into the core loop espacially if you don't see other players as well :D Thanks for trying the game and make the first video!

Let me just start by saying I have absolutely no idea how you managed to have a seamless seeming multiplayer game working and extremely playable for a game jam.

The game and style are fantastic and consistent throughout. I won't pretend I got super far but I got into the 2nd portal after which I just got nuked by baddies after one spawned right beside me when I wasn't paying attention.

The skill/levelups heavily remind me of Solo-Leveling which I assume is part of the inspiration. The mechanic of everything only ticking every 1.5s is very interesting and gives you a little room to breath when navigating/fighting. I dunno why it kinda reminds me of old school runescape.

I hope we see more as I'm really interested to see where the concept goes or if it was just an awesome

It is ridiculous that you managed this. I love it!

I could play this for ages!

Hit a mob besides another player. Dealt 4 times my max health to both the player and the mob, killing both. Healed myself for double my max HP. Get damaged for double my max HP.

All in a single turn.

10/10 Experience.

There are some crazy skill combinations but also some weird buggy interactions sometimes :D love to see it

The art style in this is striking and reminds me a bit of Omensight. The timer-based tile movement is unique at first, but it makes getting a handle on the interaction part (inputs/action modes) more difficult.

Overall I think it’s okay. I didn’t have a desire to progress much after I filled corruption to 50 and went though the portal.

You can put symbols in your name. I tried putting quotation marks in and it would just load in forever without end. It’s hard to tell if there’s a specific method to get skills other than three-of-a-kind type powers. There’s a lot to click around with, but having to click for movement and for actions and within specific time ticks was a bit too much micromanagement for me. Absorbing all spirits omnidirectionally was a good design decision, though. It would be a little more interesting if some buttons were click-to-fire rather than click-to-change-mode, like stealth.

This is a super cool idea and I love the aesthetic. Might be on my end, but the movement and attacks appears to be a bit laggy.

Damn, well done! A lot of fun to go around and harass other players :D, I made it to 21 dark material, really wanted to get through the portal but died when another sideway attack hit me, hard to use my fingers correctly when they hit from diagonal but straight down direction. Well done!

Kudos for the accomplishment, team! You did an amazing job bringing mmo to the table.
I really enjoyed leveling a bit in Umbra Arise. Hats off!
